I had so much fun doing this! It surprisingly didn’t take that long to get results much better than I ever expected. I’m happy with my results but now I’m sure I can do even better next time. This is a great kit to get started in photorealism as there is room for error and variety. If you are thinking about trying one, I’d recommend the skull kit.

Wow!!! I can only say amazing. Learnt so much from just this one party in a box, loved every minute of it f this, obviously I used a little artistic licence, couldn’t recommend enough…

The best airbrush art school ever Dru is slow and steady

This is my first Classroom in a Box and will certainly not be the last! I’ve been an oil painter for 30+ years and have taken many week-long workshops with some of the most preeminent teachers in the world. I can honestly say this is the most exciting new artistic direction that I’ve experienced in a long, long time. The quality of Dru’s instruction and materials are without equal.

I’ve learned more from this kit than I have in the 13 yrs of airbrushing I highly recommend it!!

Really enjoyed this project. Will do it again better with the techniques learned here. Great learning tool.

This was another excellent Classroom in a Box by The Dru Blair! It was very challenging for me and pushed all my airbrushing skills to there limit. I struggle with control but after learning how to add the cracks in the skull ect my airbrushing has improved 10 fold. I have only been airbrushing for a few months now and I plan to redo this skull in a few weeks as I know it has much that can be improved. Considering this was my first effort with the Skull kit I thought it turned out ok and as of few months ago I had never even done a dagger stroke. Mr. Blair's teaching is precise and to the point and if He can do it I can do it! Well not yet but at least I'm on my way.

I purchase the skull kit and now a week after recieving it I am still unable to use it as I have not been able to view the instructional video

I had fun with this skull, and learned a lot from Dru. Looking forward to doing the other classes

I had great fun with this one - it’s so simple once somebody shows you how! I loved the amount of detail you can add.

Drew is the master! Really enjoyed the classroom in a box. The things I've learned from this lesson have really helped improve my photorealism. Now I have the knowledge to work on many new projects that I have put off. Thank you Mr. Blair!! I look forward to more classes.

Merci beaucoup pour ce kit.
C’etait très agréable à réaliser.

Amazing like always

Formidable !

this is the first of three kits that I have purchased from Dru and I love it. Being new to airbrushing this kit and the video really helped me understand shading. Never could have imagined doing a painting like this with less than 6 months worth of experience.

Hello,
I ordered the skull kit last December, which had been delivered to me very quickly. I live in Luxembourg, Europe. Being a professional locomotive engineer, airbrushing became my passion since I painted a radio-controlled model car for a friend last year but still, I am a bloody beginner because there are many things I never did before, like painting a realistic looking skull. I watched the instruction video a few times and last week I finally dared to start painting. I used Schoellerhammer 4G board because I thought if something will go wrong and I used the one and only sheet of synthetic paper provided with the kit I won't have any more paper. But things went fine from the beginning. For the skeet technique, however, I used my air regulation screw on my quick connector because it's hard to bend a fabric covered airbrush tube. Plus the air regulation screw does no physical stress to the tube. instead of the provided stir stick, I used little magnets to hold down the masks. I did not use the little structure stencil because it wasn't needed. I created the structures in the skull with the detail mask, with the dowel, the pen eraser, and the airbrush, mostly by doing random figure8 movements. My version of the skull isn't quite the same as the reference photo but I enjoyed it a lot to do structures. At a certain point, I couldn't follow the video instructions on how to use the teeth stencils anymore so I decided to do the teeth freehand. Also, I had some trouble with the Moss Green. Before I applied it I liked the Sephia version better, but in the end, I liked the outcome nevertheless. I really enjoyed this kit because I learned a lot from it. Now I know how to create a realistic looking skull, so thank you, Dru Blair, for teaching me this. The overall response in different airbrushing groups had been very positive.
Oh and I'm a Badger guy, not Iwata. I love Badger airbrushes because they are at least as good as Iwatas but available at much lower prices with a much better customer support. So I painted this skull entirely with my beloved Badger Sotar 2020-2 and the fine setup and I used my Badger Renegade Krome with the medium setup for the Moss Green and the black background. The Black is Schmincke Aerocolor, in my opinion one of the finest black paints on the market. I use the high roller trigger on all of my airbrushes because it gives me better control than a shorter trigger does. That secret lies in the lever law. Small movement with the fingertip = even smaller movement with the needle. The Sotar is capable of drawing lines as thin as a human hair is. The paint and the air pressure must both be reduced though. It amazed me a bit that no word about paint flow was said in the instruction video because the kit is meant for beginners and people who never used an airbrush before might have trouble painting thin lines if they know nothing about paint reduction and pressure settings.
I enjoyed this lesson a lot, so thanks again Mister Blair for teaching me how to create a realistic looking skull. I'm sure I can use the learned techniques in future projects.
With my kindest regards
Gaston Graf

This kit was both challenging and a whole lot of fun. The instructional video that accompanied the kit is great. Very informative, thorough and light hearted, which made it so much easier to complete.

Looove it!
It's online class but it seems that Dru sitting near you and saying "It's so damn easy!")))
Really helpful for airbrush artists who needs practice and knowledge.

I've done this in one breath! It was very pleasant and fun experience!

Clear and easy to follow for any skill level.
Looking forward to more portrait puzzle pieces to get the whole picture.
Already got the eye kit, the hair kit is getting delivered today!
Great work Dru and team!

This Classroom in a Box is an excellent exercise which allowed me to learn new techniques. The video is very explicit. Thanks Dru for this experience.!

I think Dru Blair™ is the world's greatest airbrush artist and a 1st class teacher. The skull in a box kit was awesome and almost as great as being with him in his school learning(highly recommend doing that!). I did my project on a practice 12×16 metal panel because I didn't want to waste my BLAIR SYNTHETIC PAPER™ until I get a bit better. Plus, I didn't have my favorite airbrush with me and had to use a Paasche Vision to paint this with. Thank you for offering this project. I look forward to getting others and attending another airbrush class.

I was a little intimidated with the kit when I got it. I watched the video portion a couple of times and then finally made time to jump in. The instruction is fantastic. I had the feeling of having Dru right in my studio while I was working on this. The templates are awesome and the texture steps I have already implemented in other pieces. I would recommend this to anybody interested in airbrush that has the basic controls down. I used an Iwata CM-B for my project, trying to learn this airbrush better in preparation for future classes and paintings. Thank you for making such an awesome kit available to us.

What an amazing project. Easy to follow video and very interesting techniques

Was my first try at a realism piece and found Dru's instructional video very easy to follow to get excellent results. I'm looking forward to more Classroom in a Box subjects being released. Thank you Dru and the Studio team for making it possible to learn within my own home

I look forward to more classroom in a box kits

I liked this project even though I'm not a skull fan. But it was great for practicing control of transparents and I loved doing the color shift at the end. Thanks for the chance to follow your great instruction and I hope to get another opportunity to come to Blair School of Art again..

I did this on a granite table. so i first had to lay a base of white and then clear. I could not use the dowel because it would go through to the granite. The instructions are excellent and was able to paint it in about 3 hours. I did watch it once before starting and recommend it. one thing Dru says is to start out light on the teeth and he is wright very easy to get heavy with the paint. I would recommend this for all skill levels because the instruction are so detailed.

After the first "eye" project I wanted to try the second wich is the skull project too. Beside the things you learn its a realy fun project with clear and easy to understand instructions wich come in the form of a 90 minutes youtube video. You can do this project even if you have very little experience. The only thing that could have done better is the quality of the video , wich is ok and not super like the excellent instructionvoice of the master of realism : Mr Dru Blair. Go and order now ! Note for people in most parts of Europe : Windex could be replaced by Glassex.
Donald C.
My first attempt at the skull. It took 2 days and was a lot of fun. I will be painting more of this kit in the future, as I really enjoyed it. I'm also looking forward to more kits! :)

I recently purchased Dru Blair's Classroom in a Box skull kit and it is well worth the money. The video is professionally done and everything is very well explained by Dru. I was very impressed when I received the package as it includes absolutely everything you need, except the airbrush, and the contents is so well packed, it couldn't possibly get damaged in shipping. The reference photo is highly detailed and the stencils are also precision cut with tons of detail. Dru even threw in some extras such as a mini texture stencil and a mini circle stencil. Now I only need to put some time aside to airbrush the skull project. I'll definitely be ordering more Classroom in a Box kits from Dru Blair.

I haven't had a chance to do the project yet, but have watched the video and experimented with a couple of the techniques that were new to me. I have a week off coming up and I plan on painting the skull them.

I just received the package yesterday and I was amazed at the size of the model photo and the content of the package. I actually got on the phone and thanked Melaney(sorry if I got the spelling wrong). I've just got everything set up ready to paint, and when I'm finished I will send some pics, good, or bad. Any way, thanks again, I can't wait to see what's in store next. A membership monthly club would be terrific where you pay a fee for the year and get a new Classroom in a box every so often. For people like me that have health issues that can't travel, that would be a great thing. Thanks and all the best. Michael Hulas.

I have recommended several young budding artists to attend Dru's class. After just 1-2 classes you can see an amazing jump in talent like never before seen in normal training environments! Dru's classes are worth every penny if you want to be a successful Illustrator, Fine Artist, etc. I would recommend his entire set of classes over art college these days. Far worth it!
